A MAN with a Warrington address has been charged over a stabbing at a bar in Yorkshire.

The incident in question saw detectives from West Yorkshire Police issue an appeal for witnesses after a man received knife injuries in a serious assault in Huddersfield.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at 2.40am on Sunday, August 18, to Kirkgate after a 38-year-old man was found with knife injuries.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury which was serious but later deemed to be non-life threatening.

It was established he had been injured in fighting which took place inside The Hart Bar on Cloth Hall Street at about 1.30am.

A police scene was established and, following enquiries, officers arrested two men aged 29 and 37 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The force urged anyone who saw or had footage of the incident in The Hart Bar, or saw the victim leave the pub, to get in touch.

Now, two suspects have been charged in relation to the incident.

Joel Pusey, whose address on court documents is given as Crouchley Lane in Lymm, has been charged with affray, wounding with intent, possessing a knife in a public place and attempted wounding with intent.

All of the allegations against the 37-year-old are alleged to have been committed in The Hart Bar in Huddersfield on August 18, while the two wounding charges relate to two different people.

Also charged in connection with the incident is Luke Atkinson, aged 29 and of Marlington Drive in Huddersfield.

He is charged with possessing a knife in a public place and affray.

Both appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court this week, with the case sent by magistrates to the crown court.

They will next appear before Leeds Crown Court on September 17 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Pusey was released on conditional bail, while Atkinson was remanded in custody.
