A PIZZERIA in Stockton Heath has been granted a new pavement café licence.

At its recent meeting, Warrington Borough Council’s pavement café licensing sub-committee made a decision on Rudy’s Pizza’s application for a new pavement café licence.

It has been granted a six-month licence.

Rudy’s Pizza opened its site in Stockton Heath, on Walton Road, in May 2021.

A report to the committee said, with regard to the council’s pavement café policy and standard mandatory conditions, the sub-committee should consider a number of issues.

“The licensed area should not present a risk to good public order in the locality in which it is situated,” it added.

“The licensed area should not present a substantial risk of nuisance from noise, rubbish, potential for the harbouring of vermin, smells or fumes to households and businesses in the vicinity of the proposed licensed area.

“The location of the licensed area should not present a substantial risk to the public in terms of road safety, obstruction and fire hazard. The term ‘public’ refers to both customers using the licensed area and other members of the public using the street.

“The proposed trading activity should comply with the relevant legislation governing pavement cafés and any other relevant regulations imposed on the applicant.

“It is important that pavement cafés complement the designated area. Each application will be considered on its merits, and it should be noted that in certain circumstances a licence may not be granted.

“Having regard to the Equality Act 2010 and the impact of this application, the council should consider the needs of disabled people when considering if the no-obstruction principle is met. This is imposed as a mandatory condition.”
