BARROW Hall College declared A-Level results day to be a ‘phenomenal’ success as more than half of the grades awarded to students were the highest achievable.
As students lined up outside the Great Sankey college doors this morning, Thursday, ready to receive their brown envelopes, there was much hope an anticipation felt by both the gathering crowds and the teachers.
However, hard work has clearly paid off for the year 13 students of Barrow Hall, as the school praised each one for an ‘exceptional set of results’.
Helen Stones, head of Barrow Hall College commented on the results, saying: "I am incredibly proud of the fantastic results our Year 13 students have achieved.
“They have worked extremely hard, and their dedication has paid off. Almost half of the A-Level grades awarded were the highest grades, ranging from A* to B, which is a phenomenal achievement."
We sent a reporter to speak to some of the students collecting their results.
One high achiever, Eno Ting, expressed his delight at being let into Cambridge University after achieving four A*s.
He told the Warrington Guardian how he plans to study chemical engineering, adding: “I worked hard for this and it has all paid off. I am really excited to start at Cambridge."
Another successful student we caught up with, Mohanapriya Baskaran, achieved one A and two Bs and is off to Keele University to study veterinary medicine, with dreams of becoming a vet.
Students pursuing vocational subjects also excelled, with many attaining Distinction or Distinction* grades.
Some of the students who achieved top marks in their vocational courses include Alicia, Aylish, Ben, Charlie, Chloe, Eddie, Elise, Ellie, Elliot, Grace, Harry, Ho Ching, Jake, Logan, Myla, Olivia, Ross, Reece, Sam, Taylor, and Will.
In addition to these impressive results, 92 per cent of students who applied to universities had already accepted offers by 10am this morning.
Students are going on to a range of destinations and are continuing their studies across the country with many having secured apprenticeships.
Some other notable successes from the Class of 2024 include Hussain who has been accepted to read Medicine at the University of Brighton. Freddie Vernazza who has been accepted to study Architecture at the University of Sheffield.
