POLICE are hunting for the driver of a car after a 12-year-old girl was injured in a 'hit-and-run' collision in Earlestown.

A vehicle was involved in a collision with the girl on Earle Street on Tuesday afternoon, August 13, shortly after 3pm.

Emergency services attended and the girl was taken to hospital after she suffered a foot injury. She was discharged a short time later.

Police said that the driver of the car had failed to stop at the scene and inquiries are ongoing to find them.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for information after a fail to stop road traffic collision in Newton-le-Willows on Tuesday, August 13.

"At around 3.10pm, it was reported that a car was involved in a collision with a 12-year-old girl on Earle Street.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the girl was taken to hospital after suffering a foot injury, and was released a short time later.

"The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and inquiries are ongoing to locate them.
