A MISSING woman was sadly found dead by a passing member of the public, an inquest hearing has heard.

Coronial proceedings were formally opened in relation to the death of Christine Ahmadi, nee Titchard, on Wednesday at Warrington Coroner’s Court.

The Lower Walton resident died at Moore Lane swing bridge, crossing Manchester Ship Canal near Moore, on July 14, aged 63.

The court heard how Ms Ahmadi had been reported missing from her home by her long-term partner.

However, she was sadly discovered deceased by a member of the public by the swing bridge on July 14.

Ms Ahmadi’s identity was confirmed to a police officer that same day by her partner.

An inquest was requested due to her cause of death being ‘unnatural’, with a further request for proceedings to be adjourned so that further work can be completed.

Having heard from the coroner officer, a decision was made by Jacqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire, to open and adjourn the inquest.

She said: “On the evidence I have heard, Christine Ahmadi will require an inquest.

“Therefore, I formally open an inquest and adjourn to be heard on November 22. There will be an internal review on October 13.”
