A THERAPY dog paid a special visit to a care home in Stockton Heath.
Arlington House, on Ackers Road, recently welcomed Lupin the dog to the site.
It comes after the home was approached by Pets as Therapy, a charity that ensures that everyone has access to an animal.
The charity’s volunteers and their temperament-assessed pets visit establishments, such as care homes, in order to bring a smile to many faces.
So the staff at Arlington House didn’t think twice about the decision, especially knowing the importance and value that animals can have on peoples’ lives.
And Lupin didn’t let them down.
Each resident got their own contact time with pooch, with some playing with him, some talking to him, and some petting him.
“It was great to see all of the interactions and memories come flooding back as many of our residents were proud pet owners prior to coming to Arlington House,” a staff member from the care home said.
At the end of the session, residents were asked to describe their experience of Pets as Therapy visiting.
One resident, Brenda, said: “Lupin was very comforting and he was smile.”
While another resident Doreen said: “I loved him, when is he coming back?”
