A TRAVELLER group who had set up an unauthorised encampment in the car park of Asda, Ellesmere Port, will move to a temporary stopping place.

The encampment at the supermarket site on Mellington Road, which consisted of five caravans, was set up on April 4.

Following an assessment by the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team (CWTT), the group were served with a section 77 notice on Monday April 8, and ordered to leave the premises.

If an unauthorised encampment is on Council land – as in this instance - the Council may only evict them subject to complying with Human Rights legislation and other procedures.

CWTT carries out various checks pertaining to welfare, cleanliness, disruption to local businesses and obstruction of highways.

Temporary stopping places, such as the one on Oil Sites Road, Ellesmere Port are set up by the Council and managed by CWTT.
