A MAN with head injuries was found unconscious on a street in St Helens.

At around 11.50pm last night (Saturday, March 2) officers found an unconscious man in his 50s on Henry Street who had a cut to the back of his head and a suspected fractured eye socket.

He was taken to hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Merseyside Police has confirmed that an investigation is underway.

Following CCTV enquiries two men, aged 26 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of s18 assault and are currently in custody.

Detective Inspector Louise Johnson said: “We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to establish what has taken place in the lead up to the man being injured.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Henry Street at around 11.50pm last night who saw anything or has any information which could assist with our investigation to contact us.”
