AS the regeneration of Earlestown comes to fruition, the town centre's railway station is set to become a new 'arrival hub'.
Earlestown Railway Station will receive improvements as part of the regeneration of the town centre.
The historic station and one of the oldest in the world will receive new features and improvements following the £20m funding secured from the Government’s Levelling Up fund to boost Earlestown's developments.
What new features will be introduced at Earlestown Railway Station?
The regeneration of the town centre will see the railway building restored and converted into a cafe and heritage centre.
Connectivity enhancements will come into place, to better link the station to Market Street and the town centre area.
Safety and connectivity enhancements will also be introduced, including widened paths, planting, and lighting, with the aim of improving visitor experience and a straightforward trip.
The new features and improvements are hoped to boost the town centre's heritage assets and bring in visitors into the area.
Other key features in the town centre are set to be redeveloped, including Earlestown Town Hall and the historic Market Square.
The town hall, which closed its doors in 2008, will be restored and reopened as a communal hub.
The Grade II-listed building will offer hireable community rooms and use its space for public events and functions, with a cafe to open.
The centuries-old market square will be redeveloped and will offer a weather-protected trading space.
