AN 11-year-old girl with a rare bone disease is ‘made up’ after climbing Yr Wyddfa for charity.
Millie Kelly from Newton-le-Willows is currently being treated at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for CRMO, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the bone.
To show her gratitude for the hospital, Millie was determined to give back by setting up a fundraiser.
The Newton-le-Willows Primary School pupil braved the hike up the mountain with mum Nikki and dad Mike in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Millie raised more than £1,000 towards Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Discussing her daughter’s achievement, Nikki said: “I’m so proud of her because it really was a lot tougher than what we thought but she powered through.
“It’s amazing; I was nearly crying. Me and her dad were with her at the time, and we just couldn’t believe it.
“She’s being treated at Alder Hey at the moment and they’ve been absolutely fantastic, and she wanted to help out and give back.
“She’s absolutely made up; when we were going down, people coming up were giving high fives and saying well done, so that was lovely to see.”
Millie is still undergoing treatment at Alder Hey and is awaiting results from a recent MRI scan.
