A REPEATED drunk offender has been caught drunk driving for the second time in five months after blowing almost three times over the limit.

Ian Owen, 36, from Crossgreen Lane in Leeds was convicted of drink driving in Warrington Magistrates Court after pleading guilty on December 6.

Prosecutor Angela Blackmore told the court how Owen was pulled over driving a Black Audi A3 down the A56, where police described him of having “breath that smelled of alcohol.”

After completing a breathalyser test, he tested as having 106 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

After this, Owen was handcuffed, and Blackmore told the court how police described him as “obstructive and argumentative”.

Between 2017 and 2022, Owen has received 6 convictions for 8 offences, including a firearms offence.

He was subject to a three-year disqualification in driving of this year.

District Judge John McGarva presided over the case and decided to sentence Owen to a 12-month disqualification from driving. This runs concurrent with his current three-year ban.

As well as this, Owen was sentenced to a 12-month community order, and a 12-week curfew. He will not legally be allowed outside of his registered address past 8pm each night.
