A GROUP of seven women bared all on television to raise the profile of the charity that they work for.

Seven fundraisers from Macmillan Cancer Support, Birchwood Business Park, have taken part in a two-day filming session for the new series of Channel 4's How to Look Good Naked.

The staff applied for the programme after an employee joked that she would feature in a Calendar Girls-style naked calendar if fashion stylist and presenter, Gok Wan from the TV show could make her look good naked.

Marie Travers, fundraising manager for Cheshire & Wirral said: "At first I didn't think I'd through with it but meeting Gok makes you feel empowered to face your fears and he's even cheekier in real life."

Television producers spent a day at the Birchwood office asking the seven chosen women about their body hang-ups and reasons for wanting to appear on the programme.

Several weeks later, the ladies travelled to London for a day of filming at Lantern Studios.

They were given hair and beauty treatments before removing their robes to reveal their bodies and new found confidence.

Marie added: "We wanted to do the programme as it has an audience of more than 3.4 million people and seemed like a great way to reach so many people and promote exactly what Macmillan does."

Siobhan Nugent, area fundraising manager for the charity, said: "It was an innovative approach for a bold and dynamic charity to promote our full range of support services for people affected by cancer."

The show will be screened on Channel 4 next Tuesday, April 22.
