A CASH injection from a TV show has given a Warrington charity reason to celebrate.
Hollyoaks star Ricky Whittle, who is patron of Jacob's Unique Memory Pot (J-U-M-P) - a charity that captures memories for children with health challenges - appeared on a celebrity edition of BBC quiz show, The Weakest Link in January.
Promising to donate any winnings to the charity that was founded in 2004 in memory of Jacob Hawthorn, who died at the age of three from a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, Ricky missed out on first place to The Bill actor Rav Wilding, but had a surprise up his sleeve.
Before the show the pair had pledged to share the winnings between their chosen charities should they win the game.
Chris Hawthorn, Jacob's grandmother and J-U-M-P chairman, said: "We were very fortunate to receive half of the £18,000 that Rav won via Ricky."
She added: "The money will be used to fund memories for children and their families as we receive no statutory funding."
She added: "We come across some courageous and amazing children and we aim to give them a unique memory to keep."
A J-U-M-P information evening takes place tonight, Thursday, at Monks Sports and Social Club in Woolston at 7.30pm.
The event will give people the opportunity to find out more about the charity and its work. To find out more call Chris on 07837705522.
