WARRINGTON Rowing Club's Iffy Marinos and Olivia Hill won silver in the British Junior Rowing Championships under 18s women’s double final at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham.

The girls had strong competition in their decider, missing out on the gold place by 1.5 seconds to Henley Women winners, Claire’s Court.

They are proud to have represented the club and brought home a silver medal in their last junior rowing event.

This was the last big race on the domestic rowing calendar, with crews from across the country making the trek to Nottingham in order to compete with the best.

Charlie Ford and Quinlan Dunne were also at the event, representing Warrington in a composite quad with James Cox (Queens Park Chester) and George Mundy (Kings School Chester).

Warrington Guardian:

The boys only had nine days of training together and just missed out on a bronze medal, coming a respectable fourth in their final race against tough opposition.

Meanwhile, Warrington's Lucy Glover is in Germany representing Great Britain in the European Championships.

She is in the GB women’s quad, alongside most of the crew who were silver medallists at World Rowing Cup III.

Glover, Jess Leyden and Georgie Brayshaw return to the boat with Lola Anderson replacing Kyra Edwards in a repeat of World Cup I, where they came a creditable fourth after doubling up in the quad and double sculls.

Former Lymm High School student Glover was part of the GB women’s quad that won silver at last year’s Europeans, together with Hannah Scott and the Hodgkins-Byrne sisters.
