TWO people have been arrested following raids conducted by police across Warrington.

Officers executed warrants at properties in Orford and Sankey Bridges as part of a crackdown on the supply of drugs in the town.

A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of drug matters after Cheshire Police attended a home in Orford.

Drugs were also recovered following a visit to an address in Sankey Bridges.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Officers conducted a warrant at an address on Bentham Avenue, Warrington, at around 8am on Tuesday, August 9.

“A 41-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply a class A drug, namely cocaine.

“A 36-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent supply a Class B drug, namely cannabis.

“Both have been released under investigation pending further enquiries. A quantity of cash and cannabis were recovered.

“A warrant was also conducted at an address at Lavender Gardens on Wednesday, August 10, at around 8.40am, where a small quantity of cannabis was recovered.”

Posting on social media, the force’s Warrington Police team added: “This week, our neighbourhood officers and the problem solving team have been executing warrants in relation to the supply of drugs across Warrington.

“So far, two successful warrants have been executed at properties in Poplars and Hulme and the Bewsey and Whitecross areas.

“If you are involved in the supply of drugs, we could be coming through a door near you soon.”

Officers say they respond to intelligence submitted by residents to make Warrington a hostile place for those who commit crime.
