CHILDREN displaced from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine have been treated to an enjoyable day out in Warrington.

Gulliver's World theme park and resort in Old Hall hosted 44 Ukrainian children and their carers for a fun-filled day.

The visit was designed to offer the children, who have fled their war-torn homeland, a welcome distraction from the horrors taking place back in eastern Europe.

Gulliver's World joined forces with the Ukrainian hub based in Culcheth to support the group and provide the children and their carers an opportunity for an exciting day of fun.

Resort director Craig Clews said: “We were very pleased to host the children and their carers at Gulliver’s World.

“The Russian invasion has forced the children from their homes, so we wanted to do something to make them feel welcome and provide them with a happy day enjoying our rides and attractions.”

Samantha Butcher, from the Ukrainian hub, added: “The hub Warrington is very grateful to Gulliver’s World for helping to organise this fantastic day out.

“These children have already been through so much, so it is important that we try to make some happy memories during this very difficult time.”

The Ukrainian Hub is currently looking for volunteers and potential hosts to support families.
