TRAVELLERS have returned yet again to Dallam Playing Fields just days before a memorial charity event.

Bank Quay Bulls Rugby League Club plans to host its annual Bundy Day on August 6.

The event is organised in tribute to former player Alan ‘Bundy’ Clare who died, aged 34, whilst on holiday.

Six caravans arrived at the Longshaw Street site at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, August 3.

Warrington Guardian:

Becky Kay, team manager for the under eights team, said: “Just hope they go and all our efforts for Bundy Day aren’t wasted and the children can enjoy their day.

“I know how much effort the team has put into a great festival.”

This is the third illegal encampment in recent weeks.

A group of 16 caravans and associated vehicles served with eviction left the site last week after 10 days.

The club previously told the Warrington Guardian of the huge impact recent encampments have had on its ability to provide sports opportunities for hundreds of children.

Training sessions and matches on their homes pitches had to be cancelled.
