NEWLY-CROWNED Miss Cheshire 2022 is set to compete in the Miss Great Britain final in October.

Runcorn's Emma Nelson, who attended Helsby High School, was crowned Miss Cheshire 2022 last week, and has her sights set on the Miss Great Britain title.

Emma, 27, a former yoga instructor, said: “I'm still pinching myself!

“Winning Miss Cheshire 2022 has given me so much confidence and a new platform for my fundraising and charity events.”

As part of her campaign, Emma has nominated charities to be the beneficiaries of her fundraising.

The charities she has chosen are Cancer Research UK, and Alex’s Wish.

When asked about why she chose those charities, Emma said: “I have chosen to work with Cancer Research as I have three close family members who are cancer survivors, and Alex's Wish as his charity is trying to find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”

Emma has already raised £700 for her friend, Luke Lawes – from Frodsham – who was recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

To fundraise, Emma undertook a challenge to run 100km in one month, which she recently completed.

Residents might recognise Emma from being a manager at The Vintage Teapot tearooms, in Lady Heyes, before Covid-19 led to the tearooms closing.

Emma was named runner up in the Miss Cheshire competition in 2018: “I had no intention of ever re-entering however Laura and Tricia (the organisers of the event) convinced me to compete once more.

“I am so happy I did!”
