PERMISSION has been granted to transform the floors above a dental surgery in the town centre into residential flats.
Plans have been approved by Warrington Borough Council’s planning department relating to two neighbouring buildings on Museum Street.
According to documents submitted as part of the application, the existing Museum Street Dental Surgery will undergo an internal remodel at ground floor level.
The proposed changes will provide a more functional layout for the practice, with all surgeries being located on the ground floor only.
The proposals also include an accessible toilet, which will make the dental surgery more wheelchair user friendly.
Through the plans, applicant Dr Ian Sproat seeks to refurbish and convert the first and second floors into four additional residential flats.
This is in addition to the existing flat, providing accommodation in the form of five flats in total, making ‘better use of the current space available’.
Plans state: “The façade is a great example of local craftsmanship, with decorative brickwork and window detailing prominent to the front.
“All changes are required to make better use of the property and ensure its long-term use.
“The proposals avoid any unnecessary loss to the historic fabric of the property.”
