FIREFIGHTERS have warned residents to be careful as the ‘slightest speak’ can cause a large fire.
It comes after the crew from Warrington Fire Station was sent to tackle a large fire involving a row of trees in Appleton yesterday, Monday.
One fire engine was dispatched to Lyons Lane at 5.52pm after Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the blaze.
On arrival at the scene, the crew found that a line of trees measuring 30 feet by 15 feet was ‘well alight’.
Firefighters used two hose reel jets to put out the fire and protect nearby properties.
A spokesman for the fire service confirmed that the fire is believed to have started accidentally.
Posting on social media afterwards, Warrington Fire Station said: “White watch have attended an incident which has damaged a large amount of hedgerow.
“Please be careful in the hot weather. Even the slightest spark can cause a fire.”
