A MAN has been charged by police over an allegation he had an offensive weapon in public.
Officers were called to Dallam Lane on Friday night after receiving reports of a person in possession of a baseball bat.
After attending the road, which runs alongside the Halliwell Jones Stadium and Tesco Extra, at 10.15pm, they arrested a man.
He has subsequently been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and is due to appear in court later this month.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “At 10.15pm on Friday, July 1, police were called to reports of a man in possession of a baseball bat on Dallam Lane.
“Officers attended and the man was arrested.
“Robert Croughton, aged 40, of Folly Farm Close, has since been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
“He has been bailed and is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on July 20.”
