A SUSPECTED drug driver was arrested after a crash caused road closures at rush hour.

The collision, which involved two cars, occurred on Southworth Lane in Croft shortly after 5.30pm yesterday, Thursday.

One motorist suffered minor injuries during the incident.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man – from Warrington – was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

He has since been released under investigation by Cheshire Police.

The route was shut near to Cockshot Farm while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A force spokesman said this afternoon, Friday: “At around 5.40pm on Thursday, June 23, police were called to reports of a collision on Southworth Lane between a white BMW and a grey Hyundai.

“Officers attended, and the driver of the Hyundai sustained minor injuries. A 21-year-old man from Warrington was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

“He has now been released under investigation.”
