A PAIR of 11-year-old twins have won another top award.
Ruben and Elena Evans-Guillen, from Padgate, recently received British Empire Medals in the Queen’s birthday honours – the latest in a line of accolades for the youngsters, who have spent years raising tens of thousands of pounds for charity.
Now they have been honoured at the Child of Britain Awards – the first national ceremony to celebrate the ‘courage, fortitude, talents and triumphs of exceptional British children’.
The duo picked up the Young Fundraiser award last night, Friday, during an evening at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, hosted by Eamonn Holmes.
Ruben and Elena became ambassadors for the Warrington and Halton Hospitals’ Charity in 2018 aged just six, running 100km during the space of a year in order to drum up cash for a new outdoor play area.
They have since raised nearly £50,000 for various good causes.
Other celebrity guests in attendance included Gloria Hunniford, Olympian Colin Jackson, AJ Pritchard, Charlie Brooks, Claire Sweeney, Bear Grylls, Amy Childs, Linda Robson, Denise Welch, Sinitta and Jayne Torvill.
Host Holmes said of the event: “The world is a scary place at the moment and must be more so for children.
“These awards are in praise of all these fine young people, who have so many incredible stories to tell.”
