TRAVELLERS who set up an illegal camp on a park in Fearnhead have been ordered to leave.
Seven caravans and associated vehicles set up the encampment on Peel Hall Park in Fearnhead, opposite St Bridget’s Catholic Primary School.
According to an unauthorised encampment log for Cheshire and Warrington run by Cheshire West and Chester Council, the group arrived on Wednesday last week.
The group was initially ‘temporarily permitted to remain’ on the council owned land for a further week.
Warrington Borough Council was approached last week for a comment regarding the reasons for this permission but did not respond.
In an update on the unauthorised encampment log today, Thursday, the group has now been served with a notice to leave the site by 3pm tomorrow, Friday.
Meanwhile, other illegal traveller camps have been set up across the town.
Six caravans and associated vehicles arrived on Dallam Playing Fields off Longshaw Street on Tuesday.
Other sites have been reported, with five caravans on Birchwood Boulevard and six on Olympic Way in Birchwood.
