POLICE have issued a CCTV appeal after a woman was sexually assaulted onboard a train.
The victim was travelling between Wigan and Warrington Bank Quay shortly after 6.15pm on Saturday, May 28, when she was attacked.
Her assailant then left the service at Bank Quay Station.
British Transport Police say the man pictured in an image issued by the force ‘may have information which could help their investigation’.
A constabulary spokesman said: “Do you recognise this man?
“Officers investigating a sexual assault on a train between Wigan and Warrington would like to identify him in connection.
“On May 28 at around 6.20pm the victim has been on the train when a man has sexually assaulted her before leaving the train at Warrington Bank Quay railway station.
“Officers believe the man in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation.
“If you recognise him or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 159 of May 29.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
