A HOUSEBUILDER has opened its new regional headquarters in the town.

Churchill Retirement Living officially opened its northern base at Olympic Park in Birchwood yesterday, Thursday.

Industry minister Lee Rowley was present for a ribbon cutting ceremony.

It follows a £330million investment by the firm, which will see the creation of around 200 jobs across the north.

Chairman and chief executive Spencer McCarthy said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Lee Rowley MP to cut the ribbon at our new northern office.

“I’d like to thank him and everyone else who attended to help us celebrate this important milestone for the business.

Warrington Guardian:

“Retirement housing generates huge benefits for individuals and their families and by building more of this type of housing across the north of England, we can enable many older people to live happier, healthier, more independent lives, saving potential billions in health and social care costs.

“Our town centre focus also brings significantly more daily shoppers to the local high streets and communities where we build, supporting local businesses which desperately need it.”

Regional managing director Adam Mooij added: “We believe there is significant pent-up demand for more specialist retirement housing in the north of England, which gives us confidence for our ambitious growth strategy in the region.

“Our new Warrington office currently directly employs 17 people – including a graduate land buyer and apprentice architect – and we will continue to invest in more people as we grow in size across the region.

“On average, every new development we build will employ around 85 people during the construction phase as well as creating up to six permanent new jobs for local people.”

The Mayor of Warrington Cllr Jean Flaherty, Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership growth director John Adlen and Warrington Chamber of Commerce chief executive Stephen Fitzsimons were also present.

Mr Rowley said: “A sustainable supply of retirement housing can help older people live happier and more independent lives, so it was a pleasure to open Churchill Retirement Living’s new regional headquarters in Warrington.

“This is not just fantastic news for the residents Churchill serves, but it also drives hundreds of millions of pounds and 200 jobs into the local economy – boosting our plans to level up the region.”
