A DENTAL surgery in Lymm has been praised by inspectors who noted how patients are treated with respect.

Lymm Dental Practice was visited in April by representatives of the Care Quality Commission for an announced comprehensive inspection.

The routine assessment of the Henry Street clinic was carried out to check whether the practice was meeting the legal requirements.

This is done by determining whether the practice is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

In a recently published report, inspectors said that the surgery itself is clean, while staff are supportive of patients and their wishes.

The report states: “The dental practice was visibly clean and well-maintained. The practice had infection control procedures in place which took account of published guidance.

“Staff knew how to deal with medical emergencies. Appropriate medicines and life-saving equipment were available.

“Clinical staff provided patients’ care and treatment in line with current guidelines. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and staff took care to protect their privacy and personal information.

“Staff provided preventive care and supported patients to ensure better oral health, and the appointment system took account of patients’ needs.

“There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement, and staff felt involved and supported and worked as a team.”

Inspectors did recommend some areas for improvement however, including implementing an effective system for identifying, disposing and replenishing of out-of-date stock.
