A STRETTON teenager has gained a ‘highly sought after’ place at a prestigious ballet school.
Lucy Crawford, who is striving to be a professional ballerina, has been dancing since the age of just three and fell in love with ballet while at Stockton Heath based AT School of Dance.
Since starting dance, the 13-year-old has received distinctions in all of her examinations and has gone from ‘strength to strength’ in high-level competitions across the UK – winning several awards and trophies.
In 2019 Lucy then started training each week with The Royal Ballet associates in Manchester and has completed various intense summer school programmes.
Lucy applied for a place at the Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham, which is in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet.
And after attending a semi-final and then a final audition, Lucy has been accepted at the prestigious school that many children around the world apply for.
The dancer will start her place in year nine at the full-time boarding school in September this year.
Lucy is excited to start at Elmhurst and can’t wait to be with ‘like-minded’ children who all love to dance as much as her.
She is also excited to meet friends for life at the new school.
Louise Crawford, Lucy’s mum said: “As Lucy’s parents, we are over the moon and extremely proud of her achievement.
“Lucy has loved dance - with ballet being her favourite - since she could walk.
“ Lucy is so passionate and dedicated to her dance and to see her go from strength to strength and how much she loves it makes the time and energy we put into her talent all worthwhile.”
