EIGHTY children from 20 Warrington primary schools featured in a cross country event.
Cherry Tree Primary School were the overall winners after completing a 2.8km course through Woolston Park in very warm weather.
It is the 35th year that Woolston CE Primary School have staged the event.
Individual winners were from Woolston CE (girls) and Cherry Tree (boys), while the team competitions were won by St Wilfred's CE Primary School girls and Cherry Tree boys.
Competitors were supported throughout the course by marshals and first-aiders from the staff at Woolston CE and two year-nine students from Cardinal Newman High School acted as hares at the front of both the girls and boys events.
"This event started in 1987 and has only missed two years due to Covid. It was wonderful for it to be able to take place this year," said Sarah Dillon, headteacher of Woolston CE Primary School.
How wonderful to welcome 19 primary schools for our annual Cross Country event this today - every runner was amazing - well done to Cherry Tree overall champions! 🏆 A huge thanks to Imi and Jackson from Cardinal Newman who acted as our hares for both races! @CNewmanpe
