AN enormous swarm of bees has been spotted in the town centre.

A Warrington Guardian reader came across what he described as a bee swarm outside of Parr Hall yesterday afternoon, Thursday.

Hundreds of bees can be seen on a pillar outside of the venue.

This comes after another resident spotted a huge swarm of wasps in the town centre on Monday earlier this week.

Leighann, from Knightsbridge Aesthetics, saw the swarm on Rylands Street – which she described as ‘something out of a scary film’.

Warrington Borough Council’s advice on bees is as follows: “Please note: The council's pest service won’t treat honeybees.

“The pest service destroys all other species of bees, and their hives, using insecticidal dust.

“We do not remove bees or their hives, alive or dead.

“Please check the information below to identify whether they are honeybees or not.

“If you do call out the council's pest service and we identify them as honeybees, you are entitled to a

full refund of the fee.

“Honeybees are beneficial to the environment as they pollinate crops and plants and produce honey,

which contains many health properties.

“If you have a hive of honeybees you can arrange for a beekeeper to collect them.

“First of all check that they are definitely honeybees (beekeepers will not deal with any other bee species) on the British Beekeepers Association website then contact a local beekeeper directly - for a list of beekeepers please call or email Contact Warrington.”
