Kathleen, 24, along with Great Britain teammate James Guy became the town's first Olympic swimming medallists in Tokyo last year.

The former Great Sankey High School student progressed her swimming with Warriors of Warrington before continuing her career alongside her studies at the University of Stirling in Scotland.

Her stunning Tokyo gold-medal success came alongside Great Britain teammates in the mixed 4x100m medley relay.

One of her first missions upon returning to the family home in Great Sankey was to visit coach Darren Ashley, volunteers, friends and young swimmers of her former club during a training session at Woolston Community Hub.

Kathleen is considered one of Scotland's great medal hopes in the pool in the Commonwealth Games taking place in Birmingham in July and August.
