A FORMER Warrington Wolves player is heading to pastures new in Argentina.

David Kidwell, who played 32 games for The Wire at centre or on the bench between 2001 and 2002, has stepped down as assistant coach at NRL side Parramatta Eels to take up a coaching role at Argentine Rugby Union.

Warrington never saw the best of him due to injuries and weight issues at a time when the club was going through a rocky period, but Kidwell went on to have a stellar career in the 13-a-side code as a player before moving into coaching.

Parramatta head coach Brad Arthur said: “Kiddy is a popular member of the club and while we are sad to see him go, we’re also happy for him and wish him the best in his next chapter.

"He has a really good opportunity at Argentine Rugby and we’re glad we are able to provide a pathway for him to pursue.”

Kidwell joined the Eels in 2018 as an assistant coach, having previouslybeen an assistant coach at Melbourne Storm and Wests Tigers.
