TWO twins from Thelwall smashed their personal triathlon across Warrington to raise funds for charity.

Sophie and Chloe Williams, who are both students at Thelwall Community Junior School swam 1k at Orford Jubilee Hub, cycled 10k down to Trans Pennine Trail to Lymm and then ran 5k between Thelwall and Grappenhall on Sunday, May 8.

The nine-year-olds broke their target time and raised nearly £1,000 with gift aid for the Twins Trust charity that supports all parents and carers of twins, triplets or more who have died.

Chloe said: “We have done it for a Brownies badge called charity and we wanted to challenge ourselves in getting it.

“It was pretty hard because the swim was really tiring, the run was really tiring then we did our cycle and because we were going so far we felt really cold.

“We wanted to support the charity that we are part of.”

“I find it hard to run and things like that so I’m really proud of myself because I kept stopping to have a breath but then my mum told me to keep going and so I tried to keep going and that actually helped,” Sophie added.

Dad Dave Williams is so pleased with the efforts of his twins.

He continued: “Both me and my wife are incredibly proud. It’s all come from their own ideas and I think that’s the bit I’m so proud of.

“They have come up with the challenge themselves and I thought they might come up with a challenge that is quite easy but they wanted to make it difficult and really push themselves.

“They didn’t complain, they just got on with it and there was a no-quit attitude which I think is really refreshing in youngsters of today.”
