IT is fast approaching.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend will soon be here.

To celebrate it, lots of parish councils, businesses and residents are setting up their own events across Warrington.

Take a look at what is on offer.

Gulliver’s World

From Saturday, May 14 to Sunday, June 5, there will be even more thrills than usual at Gulliver's, including street parties, best of British stage shows, the return of the Clangers and majestic entertainment hosted by Gulliver's own Queen Bee.

The celebrations launch on the weekend of May 14 and 15, when Gulliver's World will be open for an extra hour, until 6pm. As the evenings get longer, families will be able to enjoy the rides and attractions for a bonus hour.

The following weekend Gulliver's and guests will Bee Kind. Coinciding with World Bee Day on May 20, the weekend will have a real buzz with some brilliant bee-themed adventures. From every ticket sold, £1 will be donated to bee conservation projects across the UK.

Finally, from May 27 until June 5, Gulliver's World will host Jubilee Celebration Week. As well as the thrilling rides and attractions, there will be best of British-style street parties, special shows and royal activities to make the most of the four-day bank holiday weekend beginning Thursday, June 2.

And from 28 May until 4 September, the Clangers are back! Tiny & Small Clanger return to Gulliver’s World to help kickstart Gulliver’s Giant Jubilee with daily appearances and an exclusive Clangers stage show.

Warrington Market

An art Jubilee workshop will take place on May 28 at Hidden Wonderland in the market.

It will feature crown making, flag printing, and royal portrait painting.

The workshop will also include Victoria sponge cake playdough and more.

Lymm

The festivities will start at 2pm on June 2 with Town Crier, Peter Powell, reading an official proclamation from Lymm Cross followed by tea and cakes in the village hall.

The evening will see the main Lymm event with the roads closing at the Lower Dam from 8pm.

In partnership with Lymm Radio, the evening will consist of songs from each of the Queen’s seven decades on the throne as well as performances from the choirs of Lymm.

A piper and bugler will precede the official beacon lighting which takes place at 9.45pm.

Immediately after the beacon lighting, the choirs of Lymm will unite to sing the official song for The Commonwealth - A Life filled with Grace.

The evening will finish with a community sing-song of God Save The Queen and Land of Hope and Glory, led by Lymm’s choirs.

Grappenhall and Thelwall

A packed programme of events is in place for the jubilee in Grappenhall and Thelwall.

Events will take place in the run up to the weekend and throughout.

A beacon lighting will take place on Thursday, June 2 at Grappenhall Heys Green, near to the walled garden.

A parade will make its way from the parish council offices, led by a piper, before the lighting at 9.45pm.

On Saturday, June 4, St Wilfrid's in Grappenhall will host a party to watch the Queen's concert from Buckingham Palace.

And on Sunday, June 5, All Saints Church in Thelwall, will host a family tea between 2pm and 4pm.

There are also two trails running in Grappenhall and Thelwall for children from now until June 12.

Grappenhall Library is hosting an exhibition from May 23.

Croft

Croft Parish Council has a weekend of Jubilee events ready.

On June 2, more than 1,000 baloons will be lit.

There will also be a picnic on June 5 between 12.30pm – 4pm.

The Parish Council is asking everyone to make the village stand out by decorating their streets, putting out bunting, and making flag displays.

Padgate Community Centre and Garden

Entry to the celebration is free and that comes with a free professional photo on Saturday, June 4 between 1pm – 4pm.

There will be stalls, refreshments, cakes and a bar.

Woolston

Monk Sports Club on Hillock Lane will host a family fun day on June 4 between 1pm and 4pm.

Expect games for all ages, a bouncy castle, raffles, cake stalls, face painting and more.

Meadowside School, Orford

On Saturday, June 4 from 11am – 4.30pm, the festival - hosted by Helping Hands Changing Lives - is expected to attract around 1,000 people.

There will be different acts performing throughout the day and local sports teams demonstrating their sport, and also craft and information stalls.

The new Mayor will be attending at 12pm.

Birchwood

The Peacock pub at Birchwood Shopping Centre will be hosting a family fun day on June 4 from 2pm until 4pm.

There will be live music by Tanya-Marie.

On June 5, Mosslands Housing Care will be hosting a Jubilee celebration.

From 1pm onwards in the tenants’ lounge, there will be entertainment from Tanya-Marie, as well as bingo and karaoke.

If the weather looks good, the events will take place outside. Refreshments will be provided, and a contribution of £3 per person is requested.

Also on June 5, Birchwood Scouts’ jubilee party takes place between 2pm and 5pm.

It will be hosted by the 12th Warrington East (Birchwood 1st) Scout Group in Risley.

A week later on June 12, between 12pm and 4.30pm Birchwood Carnival will take place in Birchwood Forest Park.

It is set to be a fun-filled day featuring a procession, a samba band, sheepdog display, donkey rides, birds of prey, climbing walls, and charity stalls.

Halliwell Jones Stadium

Families United supports families with a disabled child by providing opportunities in supported environments to meet other families for mutual support and friendship and it is their first big celebration in a long time.

A sensory theatre group is performing throughout the afternoon.

They have teddies as a gift for each child with our and the Jubilee logo. 

The main room at the Halliwell Jones Stadium will have balloon bouquets and an arch in Union Jack colours.

The event takes place on Sunday, June 5.

Walton Hall and Gardens

Walton Hall and Gardens' Big Jubilee Lunch event will take place from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday, June 5 and will be free to enter.

There will be a circus performer to meet and greet you at the main entrance, on the lawns next to the Children's Zoo, Circus Sensible will be performing from their little big top tent.

The three-man team will perform three half-hour shows throughout the afternoon. In between showtimes, performers will hold circus skills workshops for children to take part in

On the bandstand lawn, you will find gourmet street food vendors and a bar. Plus, live music will be performed throughout the afternoon by The Microtones and Frank and the Invisibles

On the main lawns, Radio General's roadshow will be providing the musical backdrop as they welcome the West Lancs Dog display team. The established team will entertain you with their fantastic canine agility shows.

Traditional music and dancing will be provided by the Earl of Stamford Morris Dancers.

In the glasshouses courtyard, Warrington Brass Band and the Sing Our Socks Off Choir will be providing the entertainment

The Friends of Walton Estate have put together a special photography exhibition about the restoration of the glasshouses. Plus, Walton Hall will be open to the public with guided tours available

World-renowned horticulturalist, Donny Billington, will also be there showing off his collection of gold medal-winning Bromeliad plants.

Daresbury

A celebration will take place at All Saints Church in Daresbury on Sunday, June 5.

A free live performance of the Queen’s top 10 hits will take place.

The gates open at 5pm and the performance starts at 6pm.

There will be a bar, refreshments and stalls. Residents are advised to bring their own tables, chairs and picnic.

Bruche

A Padgate woman is organising an exciting party - which will include a DJ and even petting ponies - to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

Jacqui Hampson had the idea of organising a small community party as her house backs onto Oakwood Primary School's field a school which she and her family all attended.

The small community party has now turned into more of an event on Sunday, June 5.

Jacqui has organised bouncy castles, petting ponies, a burger van, ice cream, a face painter, stalls, games, and many other things.

Jacqui is also organising a tombola and any money raised will go towards paying for portaloos, a DJ and bunting - with any leftover funds going to the primary school.

The event is free entry and people are able to reserve tables and chairs free of charge beforehand.

Jacqui is on the lookout for possible performers or bands to play at the event in the meantime.

Culcheth

A Jubilee concert takes place on June 11 at 5pm at Partridge Lakes Café.

Culcheth Village Choir is hosting a lakeside concert to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee and will be joined by special guests on the night.
