A MAN who admitted to assault and using threatening behaviour was fined in court.
Dean Critchley, of Pennine Drive, Parr, appeared before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on April 30.
Critchley, 27, pleaded guilty to an assault of a male by beating on Thursday, April 28 in St Helens.
He also admitted to using threatening words or behaviour towards a person likely to cause distress or alarm on the same date.
The court found this offence to be "aggravated due to hostility based on the sexual orientation (or presumed sexual orientation) of the victim".
The 27-year-old was fined £100 for the assault and made to pay a £34 surcharge to victim services.
He was also fined another £100 for the threats offence, making a total of £234 to be paid.
Critchley was ordered to be detained in the courthouse, with detention deemed served by reason of time already spent in custody.
His guilty pleas were taken into consideration upon sentencing.
