THE Warrington 10k race is back for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic started.

The two-lap race over a very flat 10km course will start in Woolston Park on Thursday, June 30, at 7.30pm and follow a flat course around the recreational area and surrounding roads, but will not cross any main roads.

This race has been organised by Warrington Road Runners, based in Stockton Heath, over the past 37 years.

“Everyone has missed the popular 10k race, so let’s make this year’s return the best we’ve had," say the organisers, who added they are excited to welcome back runners from novice to experienced athletes.

And all finishers will receive a goody bag.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions the race could not be held in 2020 or 2021, but in 2019 there were 374 runners pounding around Woolston Park.

The winner on that occasion, Warrington's Daniel Cliffe, completed the course in 31mins 12secs.

And the final finisher completed the course in 1hr 26mins.
