AFTER nearly a year, an ‘affectionate’ rescue dog with a ‘big soft heart’ is still struggling to find a forever home.

Two-year-old Molly has been under the care of Warrington Animal Welfare (WAW) since June 2021 but has had no interest ‘whatsoever’.

Staff at the charity believe she has been born in the wrong ‘dog suit’.

Molly, a Staffy crossed with an Akita, is currently thriving in her foster home but her dads can no longer keep her which means she will have to go into kennels where she will not cope.

A WAW staff member said: “Molly has been looking for a new home since June 2021.

“She is an amazing dog, but she will need a special family who will give her the time to settle in and build her confidence at her own speed.”

Warrington Guardian:

Her foster owners said: “She was so nervous at first and needed lots of TLC to get her to warm to you. It was a week before she let us touch her but now, loves scratches and hugs, and lots of licks.

“As she is quite big, she can be a little scary when you first meet her, as she's got a good deep bark.

“But she's more scared of you than the other way round.

“Molly loves to snuggle up and takes over the bed. She has so much love, kisses, and hugs to give if only given a lot of time and patience.”

Molly will need to be the only pet and children will need to be above the age of 16. She has lived with younger children but can be nervous around ones she doesn’t know.

Warrington Guardian:

She is well behaved, house trained and prefers company. She is strong on the lead.

“She needs someone with the patience to allow her to settle in, just like her wonderful foster dads,” a WAW volunteer added.

Molly has also been working with a dog trainer and WAW will continue to offer this support for her in her new home.

Sharon from Shape your Dog who has been working with Molly said: “I’ve been working remotely on Zoom, over the last few weeks, with Molly’s fantastic foster parents and we are helping Molly to grow some calmness around the house, noises and visitors and we are teaching her games that will help her to handle distractions on future walks.

“She needs further socialisation but at the right pace and distance for her.

“I sincerely hope we can find a forever home for Molly with a dedicated owner that I’d be happy to support.”

Ideally, Molly is looking for her forever home – but another foster would be great.
