BUILDING work is under way at the £11m care facility on the site of a former Grappenhall pub.

The build is taking place on the former Springbrook pub, off Knutsford Road, and a practical completion date has been set for March 2023.

Remediation works started at the end of 2021 which included the demolition of the existing pub.

And over the last few weeks work has gathered pace.

The sheet piles, foundations, some brickwork and a ground floor are all in place and scaffolding has been erected ready for the installation of the metal frame this month.

New Care’s 70-bed development features fully-furnished en-suite bedrooms, communal lounges and dining rooms, spa-assisted bathrooms, a hair salon, nail bar and landscaped front and rear gardens.

When complete, it will provide a clinical offering focusing on residential, nursing and dementia care.

Commissioning director at New Care, Dawn Collett, said: “Work in Grappenhall is going really well, the foundations are in and brickwork has commenced meaning that locals will soon start to see the building appear above the hoarding.

“Over the course of the next 12 months the building will really start to take shape and we look forward to welcoming our first residents to their beautiful new home in March 2023.”
