THE number of 'coronavirus positive' patients being cared for at Warrington Hospital is continuing to decrease.

The news was confirmed this afternoon, Friday, by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in its daily Covid-19 briefing.

At present, 57 beds on the Lovely Lane site’s Covid ward are occupied by patients that have tested positive for the virus in the past 14 days.

Of this number, three are in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

This is a fall of five patients since yesterday, although the number in the ICU remains the same.

Moreover, an additional 12 patients have been discharged from Warrington Hospital after recovering from coronavirus.

This takes the trust’s Covid-19 discharge total since the start of the pandemic to 2,932.

No new virus deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours also.

It means that as a result, the trust’s virus death toll to date remains at 602.
