ALDI has announced plans to open a new food store at Gemini Retail Park.

The proposed site will replace the Arnold Clark dealership off Europa Boulevard which has moved into the former Toys R Us site.

The potential store will provide the local community with award-winning low-priced food, as well as offering more customer choice for food shopping and reduced travel times.

The supermarket giant currently had four stores across Warrington – in Stockton Heath, the town centre, Birchwood and Orford.

If approved, the proposal would create up to 40 new full and part-time jobs at the Aldi store alone – which will be paid at an ‘industry-leading’ rate of £10.10 per hour as a minimum.

There would also be further employment opportunities during construction and via the supply chain.

As part of its commitment to community consultation, Aldi is inviting local residents to participate in its virtual public exhibition.

The virtual exhibition will run from Monday, January 24, until Monday, February 7.

Local residents will be able to view the plans and provide feedback via an online questionnaire.

Bryn Richards, regional property director for Aldi, said: “We are delighted to announce our proposals for Warrington. We are aware of how popular our existing store in Fordton Retail Park is and we would like to provide local Aldi customers with a new store in Warrington to continue to ensure a high-quality customer experience.

“Our new store will help to meet the demand for Aldi in the area whilst continuing to save our customers time and money.”

“We invite the community to get involved in the public consultation by visiting our project website or calling the information line.”

As well as attending the virtual exhibition by visiting the project website at www.aldiconsultation.co.uk/geminiretailpark/, people can also provide their feedback by contacting the project team on Freephone information line number 0800 298 7040 or emailing feedback@consultation-online.co.uk.
