THE latest peak of coronavirus infection in Warrington seems to have passed, as most areas of the town record falls in cases.
In total, 18 communities across the borough recorded week-on-week decreases in terms of Covid infection rates, while seven saw rises.
Callands and Old Hall is the area with the most cases, recording 272 in a week at an infection rate of 2,447.1 – despite a fall of 50 cases from last week.
At the other end of the scale is Locking Stumps, where 96 cases were recorded at a rate of 1,934.3.
Infection rates are published using Public Health England figures via an interactive map on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard.
At the time of writing, the map displayed the number and rate of new cases in each area of Warrington in the seven days up to January 8.

- Orford – 208 (2,321.9 – down 17 cases)
- Latchford – 206 (2,120.9 – down 28 cases)
- Stockton Heath and Hillcliffe – 200 (2,218 – up 2 cases)
- Blackbrook – 194 (2,089.6 – down 22 cases)
- Penketh and Cuerdley – 191 (2,351.9 – down 34 cases)
- Bewsey and Dallam – 191 (2,268.9 – up 23 cases)
- Hood Manor and Sankey Bridges – 175 (1,943.8 – down 50 cases)
- Hulme – 173 (2,088.1 – down 17 cases)
- Grappenhall and Thelwall – 161 (2,067.5 – down 14 cases)
- Houghton Green and Fearnhead – 147 (1,843.3 – down 17 cases)
- Culcheth East and Hollins Green – 140 (2,196.1 – up 25 cases)
