THE M62 was closed in both directions due to a police incident last night, Monday.
Officers from North West Motorway Police stopped traffic between junction 10 for the M6 at Croft Interchange and junction 11 for Birchwood at around 9pm.
This was after they received reports over the safety of a girl on the westbound carriageway.
Thankfully, officers led her to safety and took her home, allowing the motorway to reopen to motorists.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Officers were called to the M62 between junction 10 to junction 11 westbound just before 9pm on Monday, January 10, following reports of a concern for the safety of a girl.
“Police attended and spoke with the girl, who was then taken home.”

On social media last night, National Highways North West said: “Traffic has been stopped on the M62 in both directions approaching junction 11 due to an ongoing North West Motorway Police led incident at the junction.
“Police are on scene working to resolve the situation.”
A later post read: “Our colleagues from North West Motorway Police have resolved the incident at junction 11 of the M62 and traffic has been released in both directions.
“Delays should begin to ease now.”
