AFTER braving last weekend’s atrocious weather, teams of volunteers raised a record-breaking £44k for a Warrington hospice.

The volunteers carried out St Rocco’s annual Christmas tree collection across the town, collecting more than 2,700 trees.

Residents could easily recycle their unwanted Christmas trees by making a donation to the Bewsey hospice.

The trees were then disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

Charlotte Howard, events fundraiser for St Rocco’s Hospice, said: “We have been blown away by the generosity of people this year.

“It has helped us raise a record-breaking £44,000, which will pay for patient care at St Rocco's.

“We are so grateful to everybody who donated and to all our volunteers who were out in the awful weather from 6am on Saturday.”

The hospice would like to thank all the companies and organisations who have supported the collection.
