A ‘HUGE hole’ in a Latchford woman’s life has been filled after she starred in a Channel 4 series.

After seeing an advert on Facebook, Lisa Green applied for The Dog House – a show which matches abandoned dogs with loving owners and a forever home.

Lisa’s dog who was her ‘whole world’ had passed away four months before she applied for the series and had left her devastated.

The accounts manager said: “I wanted to go on the show because I knew if I went to a dogs shelter I wouldn’t be able to pick just one dog, I would want to bring them all home.

“I knew by watching the first series that the employees at the dogs home match you to a dog that they think you will be perfect for.”

The series is based at the animals charity Wood Green, in Cambridgeshire, which takes in hundreds of disowned or neglected dogs every year.

The charity’s employees thought that Lisa would be a good match for Shane, now Sherlock.

Lisa, 50, added: “I was told that he had issues (reactive towards other dogs, didn’t like cats at all and suffered from anxiety) but I just thought he’s had a rough start in life and just needs someone to care for him and love him.

“The experience was fantastic, Woodgreen is huge and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

“They are always just a phone call away if you need anything and have checked up to see how things are going.”

When Lisa first brough Sherlock home, nobody knew he was scared of stairs so he spent the first three days stuck up stairs until Lisa’s brother was able to lift him down.

But Lisa has now worked on Sherlock’s fear alongside his dog walker, Susan, and helped him to overcome it.

He now has the run of the house, sleeps wherever he likes and has a lot more confidence which Lisa believes is thanks to Susan.

“For me the experience has been wonderful, I had such a huge hole in my life since losing my previous dog and I just knew that there was a dog out there that wanted a cuddle buddy and to be spoilt rotten,” Lisa said.

“I call him Little Lord Latchford because he is that spoilt.”

The show is due to air January 13 at 8pm and Lisa has organise a ‘pawty’ for Sherlock’s TV debut.
