THIS is the inside of the huge new Turkish restaurant in the town centre.

Babba, based in Bridge Street, has opened its doors to customers in the former JJB store.

Owner Burak Goksu describes his latest venture as ‘a proper Turkish’ restaurant.

He said: “We just wanted to open a nice, good Turkish restaurant here in Warrington and we decided to open here.

“We are proud of the team to open and look forward to welcoming customers. We think it will be one of the top restaurants in Warrington.

“It’s a very big restaurant and very airy as we had coronavirus in mind when we took on this project. We have a high-ceiling and tables are not too close together.

“We spent around one year renovating due to coronavirus and we got hold of top designers from Turkey to design this.

“The difference with this restaurant from other Turkish restaurants is that our chefs are very, very good. They come from London and the dishes we do here are very different.”

Burak – who also owns Elmas in Lymm – says that after opening in mid-December, trade has been better than he anticipated.

The 44-year-old added: “It’s better than I expected really. It’s been busy and I didn’t think it was going to be this busy because we just opened the doors to test the kitchen as we have a big menu.

“I didn’t want to do a grand opening in the Christmas season, we just wanted to test it first. That’s why we opened the doors without telling anybody.

“Next year we will fully open and spread the word more.”
