A LEARNER driver has been fined by the courts after driving on a motorway.
Nazar Roshan Mohammad, of Bostock Street in Whitecross, was caught driving a silver Chevrolet Spark on the M62.
He was detected by officers from West Yorkshire Police on September 7 this year on the eastbound carriageway between junction 23 for Huddersfield and junction 24 for Halifax.
He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and use of a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third party insurance.
The 26-year-old appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 15, for sentence.
Here, he was fined £770, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £77 and told to pay £90 in court costs.
The court also ordered that the defendant’s driving record be endorsed with eight points.
It is illegal for learner drivers to drive on the motorway unless they are accompanied by an approved driving instructor in a vehicle with dual controls.
Motorists can only drive unaccompanied on a motorway if they have passed their driving test.
