OH what fun they had!

It might have been cold and wet on Saturday, but it did not stop hundreds of the town's youngsters running in the third and final round of the Neville Jones Schools Cross Country League at Walton Gardens on Saturday.

Parents, grandparents, friends and dogs gathered around the course to cheer home those who braved the muddy conditions in the season finale of this ever-popular event.

There was some highly enthusiastic support from youngsters cheering on their classmates, and there was lots of anticipation on the start line as each age group waited their turn to race.

One group of girls had a novel way of preparing for their run - by singing Wham's hit song, Last Christmas, before moving on to the theme of an advert for one of the nation's supermarkets!

There were warm-ups and last bits of advice ahead of the children setting off too.

All is revealed along with a taste of the races for the Year 4 and 5 girls and boys, as well as the Year 6 girls and boys, in our exclusive event video above.
