A FORMER shop in Orford could be converted into flats.

An application for planning permission has been submitted to Warrington Borough Council in order to turn the former Bits and Bobs unit, on Norris Street, into a five-bedroom house in multiple occupation.

The scheme would also encompass the existing one-bedroom apartment above the vacant retail space.

Submission documents stated: “This application proposes the conversion from an existing mixed-use property into a HMO.

“Converting the entirety of the existing property and its facilities, the scheme has been designed to make optimum use of the space available whilst working to ensure the formation of suitable residential amenity for each of the five future residents.

"Proposals have been designed with due consideration to both the character of the existing building and those surrounding, ensuring no detrimental impact is made to its design.

“There are no extensions or significant alterations planned for the exterior of the building, comprising conversion works only.

“The existing built fabric will therefore be maintained and enhanced, corresponding improving the building’s presence within the surrounding street scene.”
