A CHESTER man has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.

Hayden-Lee Gibson, 23, of Cedar Grove, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday, December 3, charged with causing the death of 48-year-old motorcyclist Christopher Rimell by dangerous driving, in a charge dating back to November 23, 2020.

Judge Simon Berkson adjourned the case for sentencing.

Gibson will next appear at Chester Crown Court on January 13, 2022.

Christopher Rimell, who worked as a porter at the Countess of Chester Hospital, was riding his motorbike when the collision – involving a red Volkswagen Golf – occurred on Parkgate Road, Saughall, Chester, shortly after 6pm on Monday, November 23, 2020.

He was taken to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool after being assessed by paramedics, and later died in hospital. He was from the Flintshire area.

Following his death, his family paid tribute to him, saying: "Chris was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and a great friend to many.

“He was considerate, caring and touched the hearts and enriched the lives of everyone that knew him. We are sure that everyone will remember him with the fondest of memories.

“He was well known within the Countess of Chester Hospital with both patients and staff where he worked as a porter for six years.

“Chris was well known in the local area and part of the motorbiking community. He will be truly missed by everyone.”
