With the emergence of the new Omicron Covid-19 variant and Christmas approaching, many people will be worried about going out to do their festive food shop.

To help you maintain social distancing and avoid queues, we have rounded up the quiet times for you to go to the major Supermarkets in Warrington. 

Using Google visiting data, customers can see the quietest times to shop throughout the week.

Here is a list of the major supermarkets in Warrington town centre and when it is best to visit them:

Asda Superstore

Where: Tilly Lane, Warrington WA1 2QA

Opening times: Monday - Saturday 7.30am - 10pm, Sunday 10.30am - 4.30pm

Busiest times: Monday to Friday, 11am - 1pm looks like the peak time for visiting Asda.

On weekends, it tends to get busy from 11am until around 6pm, so it is probably best to avoid doing a shop on a weekend if you want to avoid the crowds. 

Quietest times: Mornings from until 11am and evenings from 6pm.

Tesco Extra

Where: Winwick Rd, Warrington WA2 7NE

Opening times: Monday - Saturday 6am - 12am, Sunday 10am - 4pm

Busiest times: Monday to Friday, 11am - 4pm is the busiest time for visiting Tesco. 

On weekends, it tends to get busy from 11am until around 6pm, so it is advisable to do your shop early morning, late or night or in the week.  

Quietest times: Weekday mornings from 6am - 9am and evenings from 7pm are the quietest times. 

On Saturday, it is quiet until 9am and then again after 7pm.

Sundays tend to be quite busy due to reduced opening hours, and the peak time is around 1pm. 

Aldi

Where: Liverpool Rd, Warrington WA1 1UD

Opening times: Monday - Saturday 8am - 10pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm

Busiest times: The busiest time during the week at Aldi is after 1pm until around 6pm.

On weekends, it is best to get down there before 11am or after 6pm to avoid the crowds. 

Sunday's peak times are 12pm - 3pm. 

Quietest times: Weekdays tend to be quieter than weekends, with the quietest periods before 11am and after 6pm. 

Sainsbury's

Opening times: Monday - Saturday 7am - 10pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm

Busiest times: The busiest time during the week is in the afternoon from 12pm - 6pm.

Saturday is busy from 11am until around 5pm and Sunday's peak times are between 1pm and 3pm.

Quietest times: Weekdays are quiet from around 7am - 12pm and then after 7pm. 

On weekends, it is best to get there before 10am or after 6pm to avoid the crowds. 

Lidl

Where: Old Liverpool Rd, Warrington WA5 1AP

Opening times: Monday - Saturday 8am - 10pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm

Busiest times: Peak times on a weekday are at around 2pm until about 6pm.

Weekends get quite busy, with the busiest periods from 11am - 5pm.

Quietest times: Weekdays aren't too busy at Lidl, but if you're looking for no queues at all then it is probably best to go before 10am and after 6pm.

Where: Fennel Street, Fennel St, Warrington WA1 2PA

Opening times: Monday - Saturday 8am - 10pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm

Busiest times: Peak times on a weekday are from around 12pm until about 6pm, although it is considerably quieter than the Old Liverpool Road shop.

Weekends get quite busy, with the busiest periods from 11am - 2pm.

Quietest times: Weekdays aren't too busy at Lidl, but if you're looking for no queues at all then it avoiding lunchtimes between 12pm - 2pm is best. 

Sundays are quiet from 10am - 11am and after 3pm.
